The Heelers (Austrailian Cattle Dogs)
Trail riding is more fun when you have company! I have two pure bred austrailian cattle dogs who join me whenever possible. Smart, tough, active, and loyal, I couldn't ask for better pair of dogs, nor better trail riding buddies!
I bought Blue from a breeder in Colorado when she was a tiny pup in 2004, she was clearly the best one in the litter! Both her parents were working dogs so she needed a job. She was raised sitting right next to meet on our carriage in Denver, and she has stuck by my side ever since. She's to type of dog you never have to worry about, she's always too concerned with worrying about you! She has run more miles on the trail than many horses I know and keeps up with the best of them. Though her favorite past time is rolling in horse manure. No dog is perfect, but Blue comes pretty close!
I found Red in the back yard of a gentleman who had taken him in when he was homeless. When I first saw him, I though he had injured his ears, the gentleman had them taped together, which I found odd. I was told they were taped to get them to stand up straight. I laughed out loud, and the gentleman asked if I would like to have him. Sure! Why not! Red has been an extremely easy pup to raise, mellow, laid back, and very eager to please. It is unlikely that his ears will every stand stright up, but I think it adds character. Red makes a perfect door bell, every time someone comes onto the property, he lets me know by annoucing "SOMEONE'S HERE!! DID YOU HEAR ME? SOMEONE'S HERE!!!! THEY'RE STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!!! DO YOU SEE THEM?!! SOMEONE'S HERE!!!SOMEONE'S HERE!!! DID YOU HEAR ME?!!!" Yes Red, I heard you......like I said, no dog is perfect!
Max is our newest addition and was born 7/2/12. Mostly he just sleeps all day, but when he's awake, he LOVES to play with Mom and Dad!
